I'm an experienced manager, PMI-certified PMP project manager and business process consultant with a focus in the banking industry.
With over 20 years of experience, I have worked on several dozen client engagements bringing best industry practice knowledge to each institution, providing unique solutions to enhance profitability and productivity by transforming banking business processes. I have deep trench knowledge of banking processes which enables me to understand the day-to-day functional and regulatory requirements of a bank while also working at the CxO level of an organization.
As project manager, I have managed on-shore and off-shore resources for software development and systems implementations.
I began my career in banking in 1987 while working my way through college at the University of California in Santa Barbara. My part-time position at a local credit union included ordering supplies, answering phones and delivering mail.
It wasn't long before I was promoted to include part-time teller work. Helping the members of the credit union, I was addicted to the industry. In less than six months, I was running the ACH/Share Draft department. Soon, I was supervising the Data Processing and Accounting areas. With the combination of technology, working with the credit union's members, and training staff to use the system more efficiently, I found my calling.
The challenge was in keeping me challenged, so after a few years I moved to the Savings and Loan industry and worked as a Loan Accounting/Investor Reporting supervisor. After analyzing the general ledger responsibilities and structure, I implemented changes that resulted in a 25% increase in productivity (measured against reconciliation time). Also during this time, I worked with the Resolution Trust Corporation to bundle and liquidate the assets of the S&L. It was here that I discovered the value of process re-engineering and my ability to affect positive change.
As the assets of the S&L were being sold, I was recruited by a regional bank to do investor reporting and accounting to FNMA, FHLMC and various private investors for residential and commercial mortgages.
Within six months, I was promoted to VP of Loan Servicing, responsible for all aspects of residential and commercial mortgage servicing, including collections, recovery, accounting, escrow and payment processing. After an analysis of the workflows, system utilization and general ledger, I implemented changes and developed written policies and procedures for the "new" organization. This work culminated in a 16.7% increase in net income per loan serviced, a 33.6% decrease in operating expenses per loan serviced and a productivity increase of 26% in a 12-month period.
I returned to the credit union industry as a Loan Servicing Manager to include consumer products. While there, I worked on another core application conversion and became fluent in programming repgens on the Symitar system. Using this new-found skill, I automated many processes used throughout the credit union, including membership signature card creation, auto-decisioning of loan applications, collection queues and marketing scripts.
I was then recruited by ALLTEL Information Services, now Fidelity National Information Services, as a Senior IT Business Consultant. In this role, I traveled extensively, both domestically and internationally, providing business process consulting services and advice to executives. I also developed the business process re-engineering methodology utilized by the consulting group. During my tenure, I also started project management for software development, implementation and testing coordination on long-term projects.
In 2006, I joined a boutique consulting firm as a Senior Partner where our focus was on community banks on process improvement, profitability analysis using a proprietary analysis model I worked on creating, systems, operations, audit and other operational issues.
In 2009, I was approached by SAP America to join the financial services team of North America as a Senior Project Manager while they sought to expand their footprint in North American financial services institutions and build up a team of industry experts. I joined the team in early 2010 and have worked on multiple projects, including some cutting-edge proofs of concept utilizing the SAP HANA analytic engine and advanced business objects reporting tools.
I am a native Californian that now resides in North Central Massachusetts with my family.
